Charity (Ginger) - Charity is such a love and was just what I needed. Everyone adores her and even one of our neighbors has her come and spend an occasional overnight with their dog. She is such a happy, goofy dog and all the kids have fun playing with her. She loves riding in the car and I have to be careful when I open the door so that she doesn't run over me. All in all, we're having a great time and she has settled in very well. Thanks again for your help in matching us with her.
Mulligan - He has taken to living with us nicely; seems to like the yard, garden, and fields. He has already learned my whistle and comes immediately anytime I call for him. He goes with me everywhere and is really the ladies man. I want to thank you and the foster parents I met for being so generous with yours and their time and so efficient in hooking us up with Mulligan. You are doing a great job getting people and dogs together. The GDLRR was a wonderful group to work with and I have recommended rescue dogs to several of our friends who have lost their pets. I know this type of work takes up ALL of your spare time, with no remuneration, so I hope maybe keeping you updated on how well he is doing might help make all of the hard work worthwhile . Update on Mulligan - Well, it's hard to believe a year has gone by since Mulligan became a part of our family. He is a great dog, and has been 100% reliable in the house (no chewing or messing). He still goes into his crate when he feels like it, but we rarely confine him there. We have had several large parties in the house and yard, and he is extremely sociable and well mannered around strangers and children. He loves to play and ride in my van; he has claimed the back seat in the van where he can lay down and look out the window. Thanks again for hooking us up with the wonderful dog!
Trixie - We are so happy with Trixie - she has completed our family. Everyone on the street loves her and she loves them back! Joe has become his favorite guy and she doesn't leave his side! Thank you so much for the opportunity to expand our family. We are so in love with her and couldn't be happier.
Gabe - Gabe has come a long way. With a lot of patience and encouragement, he is doing great. He is one of the best dogs I've known and really a special boy. He has the want to "work" so I may look into CGC certification so we can put his social skills to work. Thanks for all that you do with rescue.
Brooke - She has fit in so well, it's really weird. We take her almost everywhere we go. I work 10 minutes from home so I have started to go home so I can have lunch with her. Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to add her to our lives. It was a great experience and I am so glad I decided to adopt a rescued dog.
Woody - I just want to thank GDLRR for the wonderful dog. We have never owned a lab ad we are simply amazed at what a wonderful dog he is. After two months of getting to learn each other's habits, likes, and dislikes, he has pretty well got us trained the way he wants us. Once again, thank you for the privilege of adopting a lab.
Princess - She is doing really good and is such a great dog. Thank you so much for getting her out of the shelter and putting her in such a loving foster home. Our boys play with her all the time, she sleeps at the foot of our bed, and pretty much rules the roost. You could not ask for a better dog. Thanks again for doing what you do. Keep up the good work.
Gizmo - Just wanted to let you know that Gizmo is wonderful. He has been such a joy. Much appreciation and many thanks to your organization and his foster family for giving us this wonderful gift. The kids, myself, and my parents are enjoying him immensely.
Dawson - Well it didn't take long for us to start spoiling Dawson. He has lots of toys, treats, and kong's. He loves to chase a frisbee and retrieve a ball in the backyard. I think he is very handsome and he holds his head high while on a walk. He loves to go for long car rides and is very good. When he first got to his forever home, he was really attached to me but now he shares his love and affection with every human he comes in contact with. Thanks for doing good work by rescuing dogs in need and finding them forever homes with loving families.
Cole - I wanted to thank you for Cole. He is a wonderful dog and friend. He goes to work with me every day and loves to ride in the car. Cole sleeps in bed with me every night and takes up over half the bed. He loves to snuggle right up next to me. He also loves to lay on my lap and watch TV. I lost my dog in November and Cole has made me realize how much I had missed having a dog. He follows me everywhere and of course is into everything. Many people have stopped us to tell me he is the most beautiful black lab that they have ever seen, of course I think so too. Cole is the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I would love to adopt another dog sometime from your rescue so he may have a play buddy.
I just wanted to give an update on Cole. He is the most wonderful dog! He now weighs 100 pounds and looks great! The vet and the staff all fell in love with him and they all said that he is the most beautiful black lab they have ever seen. He sleeps in bed with me with his head on my chest every night or next to me with his paw around me. He is the sweetest most affectionate dog that I have ever known. He has lots of doggie friends and doggie girl friends. He is very intelligent and loves to learn new tricks. His coat is extremely shiny and he receives many compliments daily on how beautiful he is. I can’t thank you enough for finding Cole for me. I love him so very much!!!!
Shadow - I would just like to take a minute to tell you how wonderful Shadow is doing and how grateful I am that we were gently steered towards her. Shadow has fit into our home wonderfully. I am so glad that we decided to adopt a 3 year old dog. Shadow has been so calm, sweet, and trainable. Her absolute favorite thing to do is give hugs. She wants to snuggle up in your lap and put her head on your shoulder as you give her pets and scratches. She is so obedient and eager to please that my 4 year old frequently does sit/stay training sessions with Shadow......with very good results. Shadow has also bonded wonderfully with our Rat Terrier. You can tell Shadow was a mommy the way she gently plays with Amber and loves to groom Amber (especially when Amber is excited and whimpering). She even protects Amber. Once a Great Dane accidentally knocked Amber over and Shadow raced across the field to stand between the two dogs. I really couldn't ask for a better dog or a better fit for our family. Thank you again for sending us this wonderful dog, and please don't worry about how she is doing. We love her to dearly.
Lily (formerly Beauty) We adopted Lily on Oct. 16, 2005. A black lab/golden retriever mix she was about 4 months old at the time. She is now about 1 year old and has turned into a real "beauty". She is fun-loving and full of energy. She wants to be a friend to everyone she meets. She adores her big brother "Rigby" and they get along so well together. They go to the park everyday for a 2-3 mile walk. Lily is an unofficial member of the grounds maintenance crew at the park. She picks up all stray tree branches and relocates them to other areas of the park! She loves to chase birds, bugs, butterfly's and bubbles. She enjoys her obedience classes and picks up on new commands quickly. We are grateful for having met you at the 2005 Americana Festival and hope you enjoyed seeing Lily again, all grown up, at the 2006 Americana Festival. Please thank the foster care giver for doing such a great job fostering Lily. To all of you at GDLRR, thank you for your dedication to rescuing these dogs.
Brinkley - He is a fantastic dog, we cannot begin to tell you how much we appreciate you recommending him to us. He is such a lover boy. We are beginning to see the puppy come out in him, but yet, he is still a snuggler. He knows how to change gears depending on what is going on. You ought to see him run, we had him and Dori out in our back field and he was flying like the wind, it looked like he was smiling. He can give that spitfire Dori a run for her money. He is so good with everyone, with have 3 toddlers on either side of us and he patiently lets them pet him and hug him. We had a BBQ over the labor day week-end and my sister in law threatened to take him home with her, he is also quite the popular guy in the neighborhood.
This first week with Brinkley has gone by quickly, we feel like we have had him forever. We love him to pieces, he is such a nice dog. He and Dori are doing so well together, he keeps pace with that little spitfire just fine. He had some new adventures this week. He went to a dog friendly hair salon where he met his cousin Matt, who by the way is a great hair stylist. The owner of the salon is a huge dog lover and loved having him and Dori there, they were a great welcoming committee for all the customers. After the salon he went to a sports shop to meet his uncle Gary and cousin Patrick, again they were the hit of the place, all the ladies were fawning over Brinkley. We are so thankful you recommended Brinkley to us, he is the perfect fit. Tom says if I do not stop looking at your web site for the rescue we will have a house full of dogs! I cannot believe so many of these beautiful dogs are still waiting to be adopted. I have been recommending your rescue to everyone.
Kiera (formerly Freya) Kiera has fit in very well with our family. Our older dog recently had surgery for a ruptured disk last week and Kiera was a very sweet friend and companion for her. Kiera has lost 20 pounds since we brought her home. She is finally below 100 lbs and still has 20 to go. We all love Kiera very much and her foster mom was right, she is definitely a "keeper". Thank you very much for saving such a sweet and loving dog!
Mulligan (formerly Connie) Just wanted to take a moment to let you know how well she is doing. On Oct 13th, we temporarily re-located to my sister's house when a storm took out our power. In true Labrador style, Mulligan made herself at home and adjusted to yet another new home. She is a wonderful playful puppy, knows many commands, walks well on a leash, and looks forward to her morning and evening walks. She brings that youthfulness to our home and has helped to fill a void left by my recent loss. In just three short weeks she has become a wonderful companion and I am so happy to have taken this route and adopted her.
Cali - We adopted Cali a 1 1/2 year old two weeks ago. She is very playful and all puppy. She likes to retrieve and loves the water. She an Coco (our older chocolate lab) have become great buddies.
Kane - My husband and I wanted to let you know that Kane has settled in wonderfully and we love him so much. He is such a good boy and Kane and Hank (his big brother) love to wrestle, chase frisbees and just run. I actually took Kane hiking in the woods with a friend of mine last weekend with his dog and they got along great and had a blast. Kane is up to about 75 pounds and doing great. Thank you for all you do for these wonderful animals.
Maverick - From the debilitating shy dog we first met at the Mingle in Columbus in May to the gregarious guy who sleeps by our bed at night, our relationship with our Maverick has grown into a love fest!!! He is a wonderful, fantastic pet. He is everything I wanted in a dog and more. He drive me crazy in the morning because he can't wait to run out and get the paper or go for a long walk in the park. When I'm working at the computer, he lays next to me...and my heart melts when I'm making the bed and he puts his big brown snoot on the covers and stares at me. Mark and I are constantly playing chase with him in the back yard and it took him no time at all to discover a shortcut through the wood pile. When we first brought him home, he hid behind the couch and ran away from everyone. Now he thinks everyone that comes to the door is there to visit him. He readily jumps in my car to go for a ride, especially when we visit my daughter and her golden Murphy. Thanks again for the opportunity to welcome Maverick into our lives, which are richer because of him joining our family.
Louie the Wonder Puppy - is doing very well. He has grown quite a lot since you last saw him. Louie was 12 lbs when he visited our vet for his first check up and a few weeks ago was up to 26 lbs. He ia all muscle, eats like a small horse, and let's everyone know when he thinks he has been a good boy and deserves a treat (he stares at the pantry, no whining, just sitting and staring). Lou will be starting puppy kindergarten very soon. He loves playing outside, and really enjoyed the snow. Thank you so very much for giving us this wonderful yellow ball of fur. We love him so very much and so does everyone who meets him. We have passed on your organization name to quite a few people around Beavercreek.
Ida (Becky) - Ida appears to be loving life. She moved right in and has won the hearts of everyone in our family and all of our friends. She is so sweet. Every weekend we all go to our lake house where she loves to run, chase squirrels and birds, and sit around in the sun. Thanks for all your help in bringing her into our lives. We are having so much fun with our Ida.
Motley (Mandy) She is doing well and becoming quite the runner! She goes for 2-3 mile runs every day and enjoys playing with other dogs at the local dog park. She also loves to swim after toys and dummies. It's amazing to watch her swim so naturally. I'm constantly checking out the web site and can't wait to move of of the apartment so that we can rescue another lab from GDLRR.
Sam - A few months ago I tried to surrender her after we rescued him from a shelter but unfortunately you were full at the time. Sam has turned into a great dog after attending obedience classes. We have taken him camping and he did great. It took several months and a lot of hard work, but he's turning out to be a great friend. I am so glad that you didn't have a foster for him and we were force to suck it up and keep him. I'm so glad we decided to keep him.
Kerri - She is extremely inquisitive and is delighting in discovering all the new places and new smells. She and Jake are getting along just fine. Jake seems happier to have a companion again, even though he is almost completely unable to keep up with her. This girl is a true sweetie, full of energy and personality. She loves to snuggle, craves attention, and would be a lap dog if you let her. She will make a great addition to our family as time passes and she settles in. Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to adopt her.
Jackson - He is doing great and seems to have adjusted very well and we love him. He and all the girls get along great. I am so happy that we got him and I think he's pretty happy too. He has already learned where the treats are. He is fine and we love and will take very good care of him. Thanks so much for allowing him to be a part of our family and letting me be his new mom. He is wonderful.
Lily and Buddy - They are both doing well and Buddy is growing before my eyes. They have enjoyed going to soccer practices and games, and now off to softball practices. They still love to cuddle up and are sleeping in the same crate. Lily likes to keep a close eye on Buddy and doesn't allow him to get too far away from her. I can't thank you enough for allowing them to join our family! I have passed your web site on to other lab and dog lovers!
Trooper - Just wanted to send you a note to let you know how I am adjusting to living in my new home in KY. Mom and Dad have renamed me Trooper because I had been such a good boy through all this ordeal. I have been busy exploring my new farm but Mom always keeps me on a leash till I am a bigger boy. My parents tell me all the time how much they love me. They are proud of how I've adjusted so quickly and everywhere I go people want to pet me. Well, I just wanted to thank you for making a difference not only in my life but my parents and all the other little fellows you care for.
Samson (Brady) - We just love this guy! He is a great addition to our family. Thanks for making him a part of my life.
Quincy - I adopted Quincy, chocolate male, a year ago. This is the best dog I have ever owned! I consider him to be the dog I have always wanted! My husband was not overjoyed at this very large dog, weighs about 90 pounds, invading our home, but Mr. Q won him over in a few days! He has been a total delight. My youngest daughter just left for college and out nest is empty. But Mr. Q keeps it alive and fun! He is an awesome dog. Everyone loves Quincy and he is known in the neighborhood as the "great dog". Anytime one of our children are home on a visit and have others here for a weekend, Quincy is in high demand! We all love him and he has proven to be an incredibly great addition to our family! Thanks to you all for rescuing this gentle giant and allowing our family to have the opportunity to give him a loving home. He is the best!
Motley - We adopted Motley (Mandy) a year ago. She is doing very well and becoming quite the runner. We take her on 2-3 mile runs in the mornings. She also enjoys playing with other dogs at the local dog park. We are excited to learn that her new love is swimming and she will retrieve as long as you throw the toy. I can't wait to move out of the apartment so that we can rescue another lab from GDLRR. She is the "Dog of the Month" for Bow Wow Designs Boutique and Bakery, located in Fort Wayne IN.
Jake - It took Jake a few days to adapt to his new enviornment. He played fetch endlessly with the kids until he coudn't hold his eyes open. We are used to just having dirty handprints on the window, now we have doggy nose stuff too. He is especially good with the 6 kids. In short, I am totally loving this black beauty and apparently he feels the same about us now too. Thanks so much for all you do.
Henry - He has just slipped right into our routine and family. Seems like he's been here forever. Henry and our Golden Annie are getting along so well. They play together and like to hang out near each other all the time. Henry is so wonderful on walks and being such a handsome boy, everyone wants us to stop so they can look at him and give him a pet. We would all like to say "Thanks" again for making such an aswesome match for us!
Colonel - In the fall of 2005, I found myself taking care of my aging mother, going through a divorce and having to put my beautiful 12 year old lab down. My mother & I moved to a wonderful new home but it was empty. I wanted another lab but I knew a puppy was out of the question. I contacted your rescue and explained my needs. I was told you had the perfect dog and you weren't kidding. Colonel was approximately 5 years old and had a heart of gold. He laid in my mothers room every day when I was at work. Unfortunately she only lived one month after Colonel arrived but I truly believe he was sent to me to help with my new life. Thank you for taking the time to match me with the perfect dog!
Sarge - Just wanted to let you know how much we love Sarge. e has proven himself to be a most wonderful, gentle and smart lab and is a perfect fit with our family. In my husbands words "our family is like a pzzle and our missing pieve has been filled". Sarge sleeps every night in my children's beds and he goes to and from the bus stop with me four times a day eagerly awaiting the arrival of the kids. Even the bus driver loves him! Our Vet agrees with us that we found a winner in Sarge and my neighbor who is a lab lover, comes over and borrows Sarge so she can get her lab "fix". Obviously we couldn't be happier and we are very thankful as wll. He is wonderful and I just wanted to let you know that he is adjusting great.
Winnie - She is such a happy girl but I have to say she makes me even more happy. I absolutely love her. She is just an absolute joy and loves life and sh'e fantastic with my little nieces who get such a kick out of having her "sit" "speak" and "shake". It's very difficult for me to leave her when I go on work trips as I miss her dearly. I am considering a playmate for Winnie and will definitely contact your rescue.
Casey - (formerly Pete) - He has transitioned into out home quite nicely. He's quickly become Maggie's best friend in wrestling, running, tug of war, and bone chewing. Thank you so much for your efforts and skills at matching us with this special dog.
Rex - He is a complete joy. He only been with us for 5 months but it seems like forever.
Ricco - I just wanted to give you an update on Ricco. Last nite, we went to starter orientation for basic training. Jeff (trainer) was impressed at how well behaved Ricco was...as a matter of fact, there were about 20 dogs there and Ricco was happy to move around and politely say hello or sit and wait for other dogs to stop over (some a little more exhuberant than others!). I had a number of people come over and tell me how handsome and well behaved he was. He's an extremely smart dog. He seems to be settling in just fine and seems to be very happy. He doesn't sleep in his crate anymore and is fine although he sleeps in the foyer downstairs rather than with us. Doesn't matter to us--he isn't destructive and hasn't had any accidents so he can do what he wants. We just totally love him...it feels like he's been a part of our family forever. He definitely has made us a happier family. Thanks again for all of your hard work in finding us such a wonderful dog.
Chase - What an appropriate name for this dog. He loves to chase anything that runs. It's so funny when the animal turns and chases him - he runs away. We absolutely adore him.
Bodie - It's me Bodie...remember me?? I have found the greatest family. Sorry I haven't written sooner, but it's hard getting time on the computer. I wanted to let you know that the Cooks are a really nice family. They take me to the bark park and I get to go on walks EVERY day. Their three boys keep me really busy and they give me lots of love. I'm almost completely house broken - Whoo-Hoo. I'll try to write again in the near future after I've had a chance to visit the lake to let you know how I do in the water! Love Bodie Cook
Lacey Leigh - She is doing wonderful and loves her new brother Shadow Alexander. She is an adorable and loving addition to this family. Shadow and Lacey play all the time, romp in the pool, and love to take walks together. I am very satisfied wht GSLRR and things could not have been ay better in regards to her adoption. I really, really thank you all for what you do and for putting Lacey in mine and Shadow's life.
